High Torque Starter Motors — the Core of the Range
The centrepiece of the Powerlite range is their high torque gear reduction starter motor. These lightweight units offer increased cranking speeds and considerably more cranking power than original units, whilst drawing less current from the battery. Powerlite high torque starter motors are around twice as powerful as standard units — they run faster and start the engine regardless of temperature or compression, whilst drawing about half the current of an original starter, putting less strain on the battery and starting reliably even when the battery is in lower condition.
For European Land Rover owners, that cold-weather performance is particularly relevant. A Powerlite unit gives you genuine confidence that your Series or Defender will fire first time, every time — even after sitting through a northern European winter.
All Powerlite starters are direct replacements for original units and require no modifications to the vehicle. The compact, lightweight units are often easier to install than the original, and work for both positive and negative earth polarity.

Powerlite alternators are compact, lightweight units ideal for classic and race cars where weight and space are at a premium. A practical upgrade for any Land Rover running additional electrical loads — auxiliary lighting, winches, communication equipment or modern entertainment systems.
Dynalites
The Dynalite brings together modern alternator technology with the classic looks of a dynamo — ideal for both road and competition use, providing up to 80% more power and weighing up to 40% less than original dynamo units. For concours and originality-conscious owners, the Dynalite is the perfect solution: all the output of a modern alternator, none of the visual compromise under the bonnet.
Remanufacturing Service
Powerlite also offer a full remanufacturing service for classic starter motors, alternators and dynamos — for original and concours cars where the uprated route isn't appropriate. Each unit is dismantled, cleaned, blasted and individually reassembled with new parts wherever necessary by experienced technicians, then individually built and tested before despatch.
